Best Suppressors for the FN PS90 (5.7x28): What Fits and Why

Why the PS90 is a good suppressor host

The FN PS90 is a bullpup, so the barrel sits far back in the gun. Even with a can on the end, the whole rifle stays shorter than most AR carbines.

The 5.7x28 round is small and uses little powder, which makes it easy on a suppressor. Keep one thing in mind: from the factory 16 in barrel the bullet is supersonic, so you will still hear the crack of the bullet in flight. A suppressor cuts the muzzle blast, not that crack.

Step one: the muzzle

The factory 16.04 in barrel is not threaded for standard muzzle devices. In the PS90 Studio, choosing any muzzle device or suppressor adds a Dorin threaded barrel shroud (about $199) that gives you 1/2x28 threads.

If you pick the CMMG 10.4 in barrel instead, the studio adds a CMMG thread adapter (about $35) to go from M12x1 LH to 1/2x28. A barrel under 16 in on a stocked rifle makes it a short-barreled rifle under the NFA, so read the legal section below first.

Whatever you use, make sure the threads are straight and the can is centered on the bore. Many owners check this with an alignment rod before the first shot. A can that is off-center can be damaged by a bullet strike.

What "5.7 rated" means

5.7x28 bullets are .224 in wide, the same as 5.56. That means three families of cans can work, but they are not equal.

Picks that fit

These are all in the PS90 Studio. The studio marks which ones the maker rates for 5.7x28.

Direct thread or quick-detach

Direct-thread cans screw onto the barrel threads. They are simple, short and cheap, which suits a single-purpose PS90 can.

Quick-detach cans clamp onto a muzzle device such as a flash hider or brake. They come on and off faster and can move between guns that wear the same mount, but the mount adds length and cost. If the PS90 will be the only host, direct thread is usually the better deal.

Legal basics

Suppressors are NFA items. In October 2026 ATF said it would stop enforcing NFA registration for suppressors and short-barreled rifles after federal court rulings, and the federal tax on them is $0 in 2026. That is an enforcement policy, not a repeal, so it could change. Background checks and other Gun Control Act rules still apply, and many states restrict or ban suppressors outright.

Short-barreled rifles follow the same new policy, but taking one across state lines still needs ATF Form 5320.20. Check current federal law and your state and local law before you buy or install anything, and ask a firearms attorney if you are unsure.

Try it in the studio

Open the PS90 Studio, pick a suppressor under Muzzle device, and the parts list adds the threading part you need. Prices are rough street prices and change often, so check current listings before you buy.
